Fanny Mendelssohn (1805 - 1847) was the sister of Felix Mendelssohn. Despite being a talented player in her own right, societal and family pressures meant that as a woman in the nineteenth century she was not free to pursue a musical career like her brother. Fanny did marry painter Wilhelm Hensel who encouraged her to perform and compose with their home in Berlin becoming a hub for music and culture. This is an orchestration of a short piano miniature dating from the 1840s. It was first published in 1855. Arrangers notes: No percussion is required for this arrangement. A Clarinet in B-flat part is included along with the Clarinet in A.
