Factum est silentium was printed, as far as I can establish for the first time, in Proske's collection Musica Divina. The motet is one of the finest of Anerio's four-part settings. I have followed Proske here, but have put the score into modern clefs. When I find original source material the edition will be revised.The text is a variant of that of a Respond for the feast of St Michael Archangel.
