Etude for Piano #3, like #2 utilizes a limited number of chords. In the case of #3 the chords are D major, B minor, G major, and E minor. Deliberately limiting the harmonic vocabulary, rather than limiting options, forced me to attempt to be more creative with reduced means. This piece is possibly more amorphous than the other two preludes. I can�t tell if that�s a result of using fewer chords, a function of the chords selected, or simply the way the piece happened to work itself out.
