Essays for piano is a set of six pieces in different styles but identifiably in one voice–much like a collection of word essays covers different subjects but the author can be recognized. Each is an hommage to a person whom I admire (those not indicated with a subtitle remain a secret!) Hymn, Dance, and Interlude for J.B. were written in 1982-83. Dance, Interlude, and Fanfare were composed in 2002.
