This short piece was inspired by the tropical landscapes of Sarawak. The whole movement should sound as if improvised- the slower sections in particular may be played very freely. The solo percussion part is scored for the following instruments:
Metal wind chimes, 3 wood blocks (small, medium and large), 3 suspended cymbals (s., m., & l.), 2 bongos (s. & m.), and 2 tom-toms (m., & l.).
