This carol was written at the request of The Lygonian Singers of Evesham. It remembers Eove, a young swineherd who saw a vision of the Virgin Mary. A great abbey (demolished by Henry VIII) was built on the spot which is now the town of Evesham!. The first verse was written by the composer and relates to Eove's experience. The other verses are from an old English folk carol "The Joys of Mary."
