This work is written for and dedicated to violinist Ricardo Odriozola and pianist Einar Rottingen, a duo in Norway. The opening measures with the arpeggio chords in the piano and the slow melodic line of the violin are meant to give a dreamy mood to the piece. This passage in contrasting harmonic language reappears at times to be always followed by more active music that implies an awakening from the dreamscape. The harmonic language of the piece is a mixture of minor keys and modes, which are important factors in Armenia folk music, the culture of my background.
