You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. No matter how complicate it looks - it is only a 2-part polyphony, therefore it really IS possible!
In the score, all explanations are German, so here is the English version: The piece should be played: -without any use of pedals -as fast as possible (this has to be calculated in advance) -with a constant tempo throughout
As in Karlheinz-Stockhausens first Piano Pieces (KLAVIERSTCKE I-IV), I suggest, that you might want to translate the bigger brackets into metronome changes.
Each number in a bracket refers to the next smaller square number. (Example: "23" means, there should be 23 notes of the referring note value in place of 16; because 16 is the next smaller square number to 23.)
The other way of working on this piece is to use the MIDI playback for learning the rhythmic proportions by ear. This might depend on what type of piano player you are: More using the brian or the ears?!
By the way: I experienced some troubles in Sibelius 3 with multiple brackets. Sometimes the end of a bracket got locked to the end of the stave, although the correct ending of the bracket value would be located some notes earlier. I hope this works better in Sibelius 4 WHICH STILL ISN'T AVAILABLE IN A GERMAN VERSION!!!! This is a scandal!!!!! I'm soon to move to Finale!!!!
Another suggestion is, that it should be possible to extend brackets over multiple staves / measures. If this is possible, I don't know how! Please write an e-mail if you can tell me!
