David's City was conceived as a pop cantata for Junior (7-11 year old) children. It is based on the life story of King David - using 'Once in royal David's city' as a starting point. It can be performed with as little as one piano part and unison voices, but I composed it to give as many children as possible the opportunity to play instruments too - so the score is full of opportunities! [I was lucky to have a Parent/Teacher/Friend Choir too, so there could be a 4-part choir included!] I also wrote a script and would be happy to share this if required.
'Psalm 122' is an Anglican chant version of David's (most famous?) psalm. It is possible to perform this with unison voices and piano, or (as written) with four-part choir. In case you are unfamiliar with Anglican chant format - the words should be sung together as close to speech rhythm as possible. Several words are often 'chanted' to one note before moving on to the next - just be aware of moving to the next note at the correct moment. [No recording of this available, I regret, because it is complicated to get Sibelius to play it at speech rhythm]
