David's City was conceived as a pop cantata for Junior (7-11 year old) children. It is based on the life story of King David - using 'Once in royal David's city' as a starting point. It can be performed with as little as one piano part and unison voices, but I composed it to give as many children as possible the opportunity to play instruments too - so the score is full of opportunities! [I was lucky to have a Parent/Teacher/Friend Choir too, so there could be a 4-part choir included!] I also wrote a script and would be happy to share this if required.
'Here comes Saul' is for unison voices and piano, with assorted parts for classroom instruments. The song should have an improvisatory feel. The instruments can either come in whilst the voices sing, or wait until they have finished. The instruments just keep repeating their tunes until they all come together on one note to finish the piece off.
