Antonín Dvořák was born in 1841 in Nelahozeves near Prague (then Austrian Empire, now Czech Republic), the city where he spent most of his life. The Slavonic dances are a set of 16 pieces for orchestra composed by Antonín Dvořák in 1878 and published in two parts as Opus 46 and Opus 72 respectively. Originally written for piano four hands, the inspiration of Slavonic Dances was by Johannes Brahms Hungarian dances and were orchestrated under the request of Dvořák’s publisher soon after composition. The pieces, which nationalists, were well-received at the time, and today are among the most famous pieces of Czech composer
