Dance of the mischievous imps - In the middle of the night, when everybody is asleep in the house, the mischievous little imps come out from their hiding places, ready to effect their pranks. Walking cautiously on tiptoe towards the music study room, they soon begin to wreak havoc, rummaging amongst my scores, swapping pages, doodling and altering my sketches. Soon enough they have managed to turn on the computer, activate the Sibelius software and they edit a very serious piece of mine, turning it into a strange dance in an uncertain key. As the imps get cheekier and cheekier more start coming in running from everywhere, and soon they have all started to dance to the music of this mad re-composition. Wait a minute…Yes, one of them sticks in a key of A flat minor in the score (lots of flats!), and on we go. It Is a Sardana! It seems that these Imps are Catalan and they are intent to stay up all night. They stop the dance and continue wondering around, but… oops! It looks like they have managed to wake me up! I begin to wonder towards the music room…now they are all scuttling, trying to hide everywhere as I approach. But one has been left behind, alone and afraid…Now I turn on the light and Zap! The poor little imp starts running away faster and faster, hiding under the sofa with the others. It looks like they have escaped again, ready to play games once more another day!
