You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. This piece is dedicated to Apollo: God of light, prophesy, poetry, healing and music. It was the second half of a piece of music that earned an equal first in the Australian Society for Music Education [Queensland Chapter] Young Composers’ Competition. The companion to this piece is Night of the Roaming Dead.
’The Apollo call is sounded. It is replied to and joyful festivities commence. Apollo’s light and healing shines down and his music graces the ears of all who hear it. The scene moves away from the happy gathering to a town where no light shines. A sad lament is heard through the night and grows more passionate as the longing for light intensifies. The Apollo call is sounded through the night, seemingly to no avail, but finally Apollo responds and sends his light to the dark town. Cheers go up as light covers the town and all the happy creatures of light dance through. At the restating of Apollo’s call, his merrymakers and followers join in the song and dance of the enlightened town.’
