Unlike the overtures to ’Figaro’ and ’The Abduction’, this one has a slow introduction, before breaking into its breathless sotto voce figure of repeated quavers. It’s only short, but it requires a good bit of stamina from the players in order to keep up with the music’s breakneck pace and still have something left for the final climax.
