I wrote it so that the basses have a harder part and more involvement rather that just playing boring notes. I wrote the piece in 4/16 time because I wanted the piece to have no "white" notes. I hope that bass players will have a more interesting time learning their part, and the whole orchestra will feel like they are much better players from reading the small note values.
