"Columbia The Gem of the Ocean" is an 1843 adaptation by Thomas A'Becket, Sr. (1808-1890) of the tune "Britannia the Pride of the Ocean" by an anonymous British composer. A'Becket also adapted his own lyrics (not included) for his American audience. Arranger Joel Jacklich (A.S.C.A.P.) has provided this brass quartet version (for two trumpets, French horn, and trombone) which has parts for both the most common first and second trumpets in B-flat, and also for substitute trumpets in C. Enjoy, as you play this at your next 4th of July concert.
