This setting uses familiar Christmas hymns and carols set to words adapted from the liturgy, allowing everyone to join in singing a seasonal mass.
Designed for flexibility, it can be sung by groups ranging from a handful of unison voices to a large congregation or a choir.
The accompaniment is for organ or keyboard. There are optional vocal descants and optional parts for flute and trumpets. The score includes a melody line for congregational use which can be duplicated as needed.
Carols used: "Puer nobis nascitur" (Come, thou Redeemer of the earth), "Iris" (Angels from the realms of glory), "The First Nowell", "Helmsley" (Lo, he comes with clouds descending), "Quem pastores" (Jesus, good above all other), "Antioch" (Joy to the world, the Lord is come), "O Jesulein süss, O Jesulein mild" (O little one sweet, O little one mild), "Adeste fideles" (O come, all ye faithful), "Cranham" (In the bleak mid-winter)
