You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. The original idea for this medley of The Charleston and Black Bottom resulted from a ’Twenties Evening’ organised in aid of Multiple Sclerosis by a retired local piano teacher and good friend, whose husband unfortunately suffers from the illness.
Initially there was a copyright issue with the medley, which was complicated by the fact that two US companies originally shared joint ownership of the former tune, and a different company the latter.
However, with the eventual assistance of Richard Paine, Rights/Media Music Director of Faber Music Ltd, who now look after the joint interests of the former US companies, I have been given full permission for the medley, in all the current instrumentations, and for any subsequent ones using the same musical ’template’.
This can be confirmed from the full copyright line on the title page of each arrangement, a condensed version of which also appears on every respective instrumental part.
Following a suggestion from Debby Hutt, an ex-member of the National Saxophone Ensemble, UK, I have now included an optional part for a second Alto Sax. This converts the existing quartet into a quintet, if required.
In the present economic climate, sometimes people will buy the full set of parts, but not necessarily the full score as well - or occasionally vice versa. Where the parts alone have been purchased, reference should be made to the full copyright line, as it appears on the score, and which will always be available for inspection online.
