Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755) was a French baroque composer. He wrote many sonatas for several instruments without basso continuo. His Op.66 consists of nine petit sonatas and this Chaconne which were written for two cellos or two bassoons or two violes. A chaconne is a variation on a repeated harmonic progression. This short piece is simple and technically easy, but beautiful and enjoyable to play.
