Celestial Shadows is inspired by the discovery of the Kepler-444 Solar System. On January 27, 2015 scientists had confirmed that there were five earth-like planets orbiting the recently discovered star Kepler-444, which sits approximately 117 light years from earth. These celestial bodies were discovered through the observation of shadows that would systematically pass over the star. Further study inspired NASA to suggest the possibility of ancient life, given the fact that Kepler-444 is also 11.2 billion years old.
The title, Celestial Shadows, possesses a duel meaning. Aside from directly referencing the methods in which the five planets were discovered, it also alludes to the theory of the planets existing as shadows of ancient alien life. The polarity of the texture in this composition expresses the concept of physical entitities of matter existing in a large pool of desolate nothingness. The choice of harmonic pillars utilized is intending to convey a sense of quirky exoticism in alignment with the temperament of discovery. The work ends somewhat inconclusively as a distinct connection to the infinity of space.
