This is the second piece written for my "Deuce Duets for Percussion" series. "Carol of the Bells" is a wonderful song, and even though many great treatments already exist, I wanted to create one of my own. The pedaling makes this piece a little more difficult, but it is a lot of fun to play. Writing it for chimes kept with the inspiration that caused Leontovych to compose the original nearly 100 years ago.
I encourage you to listen to the MP3 of this piece (the Scorch version doesn’t do it justice) by clicking on the "Listen to MP3" button. I also encourage listening on headphones, or a decent speaker system with Left and Right speakers with a decent amount of distance between them. It was quite difficult to get the separate between the two chime sets to eliminate all of the overtones and make them distinct.
