You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. This octet may be played complete or as two separate quartets. The notion behind the work was to entertain a clarinet ensemble who enjoy the more sedate ’classical’ repertoire, whilst the saxophonists would rather be ’Jazzing it up’, and so the two ensembles have their wish within the one piece. I feel it works best with both quartets combined but I have made strenuous efforts to ensure that independent performances are possible. The octet version should be played antiphonally and some costuming might be add to the fun with the clarinets in formal attire, with those layabout good-for-nothing saxophones dressed in more hippy gear.
Although an alternative Soprano Sax part is provided, the composer would much prefer you to use 2 Altos.
