Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach set the lyrics by Christian Fuerchtegott Gellert into a choral melody, which serves as the basis for this cantata. The choral melody is present in the first two parts, fades out then, and returns in the last part prominently. In part 3, 4 and 5 only the lyrics remind the choral, forming a recitativo and a passacaglia. The obligate instrument may be a piccolo flute, or anything similar in the very high register. Mp3 (part 2 only): Pia Ernstbrunner, A; Johanna Valencia, sopranino rec.; Paul Koutnik, Og.
