This is an overture that I wrote for my uncle Brian and aunt Barbara, for my mother to take them as a gift on her holiday to Canada. It was inspired by a film I saw when I was a small child, either set or filmed in Canada (I can't remember which) about two cannibals who went on a killing spree. I was trying to write it roughly in the Romantic style of Mendelssohn (Hebrides) or Hamish McCunn (The Land of the Mountain and the Flood) - given the mediocre results, I think I should have stuck to the watered-down Beethoven!
