This hymn-tune has been credited to both Jeremiah Clarke and Joseph Haydn. The Hymnal 1982 has Haydn as the composer. Together in Song (published in 1999) credits Haydn with the melody and David Evans (1874-1948) with the harmony. The Church Hymnal (published in 2000) credits the melody and most of the bass to Jeremiah Clarke, and the inner parts to Mary M. Bridges (1863-1949). Those inner parts by Mary Bridges and by David Evans are very similar in many details. I have written my own inner parts to this tune.
