This is one contrabassoon solo that has been arranged for a variety of low pitched instruments, including tuba. As far as I know, this is the first time it has been penned for soloist and brass band. The title, itself, has carried a few names and description including "The Old Curmudgeon" & "The Bear With The Sore Head". Basically a question/answer format in which the bear cannot make it's mind up. I think the compere will have as much fun as the soloist. I have used and slightly developed some of the material to keep the player's interests at heart.
