Joseph Bodin de Boismortier was a French baroque composer of instrumental music, opera, ballets, and vocal music. He moved to Paris in 1724 and there became famous as an independent composer. He is notable historically because he was able to conduct his entire musical career without either the patronage of the nobility or employment by the church.

This simple duet is ideal for beginners. Guitar two has a repeated bass note pattern. Guitar one plays a charming melody that overlays the basso ostinato part.
