An arrangement for symphony orchestra of the well-known Northumbrian folk song "Blow the Wind Southerly", written in 1999.

Wind triads give way to a gentle, slow introduction, during which fragments of the folk song are heard on the Cor Anglais, the strings and then the flute. The rest of the music is in a fast, irregular time signature and builds up to an exciting climax as the theme is passed around the orchestra!
