You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. This music has it`s origins in the 1960`s, when a group of eight U.S. academically trained college musicians formed one of the first jazz/rock bands, to bring to the world so early in the history of "rock’n’rock" a sound so vibrant and innovative, it is still very much influencing many serious composers in addition to the ’rockers’. I penned this music in 1981, several albums down the line for B.S.& T. but have now made revisions to make it also viable for interested string orchestras, (and quartets) to realise the kind of rhythms that jazz/rock gives us, thanks to the pioneering vision of these American musicians, who still command a world-wide following. There are no ’quotes’ in what you are about to hear. This music is not intended to copy nor to plagiarize: it is a serious attempt to not re-create, but to create new sounds and rhythms for strings. This then, is my original effort, which I hope may be taken up, interest, and enable other musical genres to appreciate an exclusive work written for them, many of whom will have only experienced this kind of music as ’backing’ session musicians. I saw ’Blood, Sweat and Tears’ only once. In spite of their untidy appearance (the 'rebelious sixties') their music was indeed of a quality which London had only experienced before in houses similar to the Festival and Barbican concert halls.
