Biberiamo op. 80 (2023)
- for string orchestra
The basic idea of the composition was conceived in June 2022, during a friendly conversation, when one of the author’s friends spoke about his passion for Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber (1644-1704). But he also mentioned that Biber only wrote one string orchestral piece (Battalia).
Therefore, the composer selected three rosary sonatas, but the arc of the one-movement piece was given by the sixteenth sonata (The passacaglia-tema of the Guardian Angel’s sonata).
Parts of the composition that merge into each other: I.Preludio - sul tema della passacaglia della XVI sonata (L’angelo custode). II.La terza sonata - Terzo mistero della gioia: Gesù, il figlio di Dio, nasce dalla Vergine Maria. III.Interludio no. 1. IV. La decima sonata - Quinto mistero doloroso: Gesù è crocifisso e muore in croce. V.Interludio no. 2. VI. La dodicesima sonata - Secondo mistero glorioso: Gesù ascende al cielo. VII. Postludium - La sedicesima sonata (L’angelo custode).
