You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. This piece is available in both English and Latin choral versions with only slight alterations in the choral scoring to accommodate each language; instrument scoring is identical between the two versions.
Performance options can include using only women (SAA) or only men (TT) as choir configurations without significant impact to the atmosphere/spirit of the piece. In the case of using only men (TT):
In the "Maids and Cherubs" section (letters C thru end of D): a) Alto I&II at m76 should be reassigned to Tenor I b) Tenor II remains unchanged c) the Soprano part (in that octave) would not be covered Lastly, the solo at letter K ("Bride") should be assigned to solo Tenor voice.
Another performance option is to play the piece as an instrumental. Optimally, a slight change should be applied for this version to assign the vocal solo at letter K ("Bride") to Horn I but an octave lower. With or without this alteration, an instrumental rendition can stand on its own as a viable work and will fully convey the essence of the piece.
The handbells may require micing/amplification to achieve proper balance particularly at letters H and L. As an alternative to using a handbell choir, an electronic keyboard containing high-quality digital samples of handbells may be used.
The section, "Maids and Cherubs" (letter C through end of letter D), is available as a stand-alone piece. The scoring for choir in this version includes the original SAATT but also includes scoring for girls children's choir; both choirs, or one or the other, may be used effectively.
A condensed version of this piece is available for piano/cello only but is not inclusive of the prelude section; some sections are shortened in length to accommodate the reduced instrumentation.
