An arrangement for wind quintet of the 3rd movement from Beethoven's 1st Symphony.
Although described in the score as a Menuetto and Trio, it has the feel and tempo of a Scherzo and Trio. Beethoven has the tempo marking of 108 to the bar…I have my arrangement playing at 96. It is still quite brisk.
It certainly gives every player a "workout"
This will give everyone, especially beginners, the feel of the parts in Beethoven's orchestral scherzos
Horn part is in C basso as in the original and is playable on a natural horn. An alternative Horn in F part is provided.
