One of the delightful short pieces from Gabrieli's 1576 collection 'Ecclesiasticarum cantionum omnibus sanctorum solemnitatibus deservientium liber primus'. Beatus vir is not one of the usual Psalm texts but is verse 12 of the first chapter of the Epistle of St James. As such it is set either as the Capitulum in the Office or - as surely intended by Gabrieli - as Magnificat Antiphon for the Vigil of a Martyr. Scoring TrSAT here down a tone.
