The final work of this suite is a fast mambo that takes quotations from various sources of the Beat literature, especially with the chorus from Alan Ginsberg’s Howl published in 1956. There are several solo sections scattered throughout the piece, as well as the singer narrating key lines from the works of Kerouac’s "On the Road." The lyrics are therefore an impressionist potpourri of rhythm from those two writers as well as my own contributions to fill in the gaps.
"Burn, burn, burn! Love is love! Where goes America into the night? Oh my god! Love is love! Goodness gracious me, Seraphim aflame! Girls can be Pretty pedal memories in my eyes Girls can be overwhelmed by trickeries of our lies. I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness. Mad ones mad ones! Floating across the tops of cities contemplating jazz. Far as the eye can see a star to me Spirit is life it flows endlessly towards we. Words, words, words! Stars are words! Mist before the peak the dreamer goes on. I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness. Starving naked! Yakitiyak whispering vomiting facts Wandered around and around at midnight Burn, burn, burn! Love is love! How I love you tonight! I saw the best minds of my generation I saw the best minds of my generation I saw the best minds of my generation Destroyed by madness Starving hysterically naked. Poverty and tatters, hollow eyed and high. Minds! New loves! Heavenly connection down on the rocks of time Down on the rocks of time"
SPOKEN: Holy flowers floating in the air, were all these tired faces in the dawn of jazz America. Here were the children of the American bop night. It’s the beat generation. Its beat. It’s the beat to keep, it’s the beat of the heart. It’s being beat and down in the world like oldtime lowdown. The only people for me are the mad ones. Mad to live, mad to be saved. Desirous of everything at the same time. The ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing But burn, burn, burn, like fabulous Roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars, and the middle you see the blue centrelight pop and everybody goes AWWW!"
