This is a concert band instrumentation of the little music theme I wrote a few weeks earlier. I decided to arrange it for solo tenor saxophone, because I feel, that most pieces including saxophone solos are written for alto. This song should be played very softly, with straight 8’s and swing 8’s where signed. The moving figures in staccato 16’s must be played with ease and very straight. The soloist can interpret the melody freely in a jazz ballad style, except of measure 14 and letter B, where the band joins the melody. The soloist should be able to improvise. The chords are a bit tricky, so there are suggested scales written in for each chord.
Although it may be challenging for the soloist, the band shouldn’t have big problems to play the music. Just be careful about the right articulation and phrasing.
Hope you, the band and the soloist will like this little piece of music.
