"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" is one of Bach's best loved choruses. It comes from his Cantata no.147, written in 1723 during his first year as Thomaskantor of Leipzig. It is here arranged for SS choir, Flute and Piano. The flute part is designed to interweave with Bach's original accompaniment, which features almost continuous triplet movement. The words are by the British Poet Laureate Robert Bridges (1844-1930). This piece is a great choice for performance at weddings and in concerts generally. Similar arrangements (for Soprano or Tenor solo, and for Soprano and Tenor duet) are available on this website.
