Joseph the Hymnographer was a prolific hymn writer, with more than 200 texts in the current liturgical books of the Orthodox Church. His work in English hymnbooks comes down to two texts, "Let us now our voices raise" and "Star of the morning, so gloriously bright." The melody "Ave Virgo Virginum" or "Gaudeamus Paritur" was a tune first found in "Medieval Bohemian Carol Melody", 1544.
