Whilst on a tour of the Czech Republic with my school choir and orchestra the staff discussed the lack of an encore or a piece of Scottish music (we’re a Scottish school) in our repertoire. I woke up early on the last day of performances and couldn’t get back to sleep so I knocked this together at 7:30 am. We performed it as an encore that evening in Nymburk. We got a standing ovation and all the choir were in tears. It was the last time this particular group of pupils would ever sing together in public so was an emotionally charged event. Thanks to my colleagues and pupils for sight reading it!!!!
