There are two carols named "Gabriel's Message" - the present one with the melody from "Piae Cantiones" (1582) and a carol with ancient origins from the Basque country. The words of the present carol are from "Piae Cantiones", translated by John Mason Neale (1726-1814). The words of the Basque carol were translated by Sabine Baring-Gould (1834 - 1924).
