He also composed operas, piano, chamber and orchestral music. Schubert died in Vienna at the age of 31 in 1828.
Adelaide: The text is a poem in German by Friedrich von Matthisson (1761–1831).
Adelaide
Einsam wandelt dein Freund im Frühlingsgarten,
Mild vom lieblichen Zauberlicht umflossen,
Das durch wankende Blütenzweige zittert,
Adelaide!
In der spiegelnden Flut, im Schnee der Alpen,
In des sinkenden Tages Goldgewölke,
Im Gefilde der Sterne strahlt dein Bildnis,
Adelaide!
Abendlüftchen im zarten Laube flüstern,
Silberglöckchen des Mai’s im Grase säuseln,
Wellen rauschen und Nachtigallen flöten:
Adelaide!
Einst, o Wunder! entblüht auf meinem Grabe
Eine Blume der Asche meines Herzens;
Deutlich schimmert auf jedem Purpurblättchen:
Adelaide!

English translation.
Adelaide
Your friend walks alone in the spring garden,
Gently surrounded by the lovely magic light,
That trembles through the swaying blossoming branches,
Adelaide!
In the mirroring flood, in the snow of the Alps,
In the golden clouds of the setting day,
In the field of stars your image shines,
Adelaide!
Evening breezes whisper in the delicate leaves,
Silver bells of May rustle in the grass,
Waves rush and nightingales whistle:
Adelaide!
One day, oh miracle! a flower bloomed on my grave from the ashes of my heart;
Clearly shimmering on every purple leaf:
Adelaide!
