This composition is based on a short piece originally written as a Play-along exercise in my drum tutor "Practical Percussion". Some years later, the publisher, David Horsfield, felt it would make an effective solo for flugel and brass band and it was on my to-do list. Unfortunately David died from cancer in October 2016, just the day before I completed it, and the version presented here is in memory of him. It is offered at a minimum price here, but users may like to make a donation to the Greenlea Oncology Unit at Huddersfield royal Infirmary where David received much of his treatment.
