A Little Ditty for Trumpet and Mom is a highly theatrical work in seven sections for a trumpet player and his or her mom. It was written for my best friend in high school to perform at his senior recital, and is full of inside jokes that only he and I would get. "Mom," ideally the trumpet player's actual mother, may be a musician or an actor, but anyone's mother could do the part justice as long as she looks identifiably "Mom-ish." The trumpet player should pace the performance so that two don't finish too far apart in the Momologues. The final Ditty is a true musical duet requiring coordinated tempo and pitch. The trumpet part is in C, both performers should have music stands, and a piano is required. Let me know if you perform it!
