The Romance was originally composed in 2001 as part of a set of "salon pieces" for cello and piano - the others being: Humoresque, Serenade and Elegy. It allows the cello to show off its various moods from seductive and pensive in the slow section with its almost Andalucian chords and harmonies - to tempestuous.
