Franz Peter Schubert ( Born Vienna 31 January 1797 – Died Vienna 19 November 1828).
Schubert is considered one of the greatest composers in the history of Western Classical Music. His music continues to be widely performed.
His musical education began probably at about 5 years old. Early lessons were given primarily by his father.
Eventually his prodigious talent came to the attention of Vienna's leading musical authority, Antonio Salieri. Salieri trained Schubert in composition and harmony, which continued throughout most of Schubert’s short life.
