Mike Parsons
United Kingdom
Mike Parsons was born in Cambridge in 1978, and brought up in Manchester where he began to play the oboe and piano. After playing with local orchestras and the Adamson Military Band, he studied performance, composition and arranging at Durham University, gaining a BA in Music in 1999. His continued studies of conducting and composition have since led to an LRSM in band directing, and recognition from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, who in 2004 awarded Mike a Silver Medal. Mike now lives in Lincolnshire, where he performs regularly as an oboist and pianist, and also likes to write and arrange music in his spare time, hence this website! Mike also plays in a local woodwind quintet, which uses a bass clarinet rather than bassoon, hence the slightly untraditional instrumentation of his quintet music - parts can of course be transposed if required. For enquiries about music, commissioning new pieces/arrangements, to book the Amadeus Woodwind Quintet or to report any printing problems with Mike's music, please contact him via e-mail on mike@mpdparsons.fsnet.co.uk. Don't forget to keep checking here regularly for new music, and if you like it, why not review it!!
