Leonhard Stampler
Austria
Leonhard Stampler was born in 1981 in Graz, Austria. Beginnig in childhood music was a very important part of his life. Parents, brothers and sisters were playing the piano and singing in the local choir. Choir music became more and more central in his life. Singing with choirs from amateur choirs to great chamber choirs became the most important hobby, so he decided to make the hobby a profession and started to study choir conducting in Graz with Franz M. Herzog. The studies taught him to look at music also from a theoretical point of view and after having courses in harmony and counterpoint he began to write his own music. Now he is writing simple and difficult choir music but also instrumental music like a piano trio or orchestral music like Inferno a dramatic memorial of the tsunami catastrophy in 2004.
