Background
Earning a Bachelor's of Music with an emphasis in both piano and voice from Carson Newman College, she has held several private music studios and was a music educator in CT, CO, and MD public school systems. At the Colorado Springs Conservatory, Emily was a piano instructor and worked with opera singer and CSC founder, Linda Weiss. Mrs. Janssen has worked at the French Woods Performing Arts Camp in NY directing Broadway productions, Jacques Brel is Alive and Living Well in Paris, Good News, and Flower Drum Song.
Performance
Emily has performed many venues including The Sydney Opera House, The Kennedy Center, and Avery Fisher Hall. She was the soprano soloist of Magnificat in D with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus, under the direction of Peter Bagley. Mrs. Janssen has also performed under Leonard Slatkin, Marvin Hamlisch, Emil de Cou, Robert Shafer, Julian Wachner, and composer Eleanor Daley. In May 2009, Emily completed her third season with the grammy award-winning choral organization, The Washington Chorus. From June 2009-August 2010, Mrs. Janssen conducted both the Geraldton Choral Society and Vocal Minority.
Composition
In June, 2010, her most recent choral composition, Light of the Spirit, was commissioned by the Geraldton Choral Society at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Western Australia. Emily currently resides in MD, where she works as a professional accompanist and has copyrighted 26 piano/vocal compositions.
