I am a 22 year old, who studied BA Music (Hons) at Leeds College of Music. I have been playing and writing music for the past 12 years and have had tremendous fun doing so as it allows me to express my creative side.
My compositions are very modern, and use a lot of atonalism, the piano sonata is my favourite work, and in my opinion is the best composition that I have written.
I have won various awards for my music including Sheffield's budding composers award in 2004. In 2007 I took part in the BBC young composers project where my work was assessed by professional composers, who put me through to the final round. More recently internationally acclaimed pianist Natalya Strelchenko recorded one of my solo piano works as part of a compilation CD she made of selected young composers.
I play 3 instruments: Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone and Piano as well as singing (Baritone). I have been a member of various ensembles, leading and conducting some of them. I've been with Bolsterstone Male Voice Choir for 8 years, which has included two tours in European cities where we took part in competitions.
Throughout my musical career so far I have taken part in numerous concerts - some of which I have arranged, some where I was one of the only players. I regularly featured as a soloist in school and sixth form concerts. More recently I have turned my efforts to composing for concerts. Through ensemble studies at university I have had four pieces performed so far and another three are to be performed at the end of the year. All the work I have performed so far has had positive feedback.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Adam
