One day, during the national lockdown due to the novel coronavirus, I took a pencil and manuscript paper and simply began writing. Not really aware of what I was actually creating, an idea grew for a small suite of piano pieces of intermediate difficulty. Two days later, this work was the result. It has been polished, but most of the changes from that initial handwritten score have been fairly superficial.
Each of these pieces is aimed at pianists of no more than ABRSM Grade 5, and some of the them are much simpler. I have tried to stay true to my own style of writing in that some are very traditionally structured, while others are in a much more contemporary style. These five miniatures, each depicting a certain type of weather, will, I hope, provide a perfectly achievable challenge to the intermediate pianist.
