While this is written as an unaccopanied duo for horn and trombone, the trombone part may also be played by euphonium, bassoon, or cello, and (with included supplementary Bb treble part) baritone TC or tenor sax. Separate parts are provided to avoid awkward page turns.

This popular hymn tune, of Welsh origin, is named for a valley (cwm) in Wales. The best-known hymns that use this tune are God of Grace and God of Glory and Guide Me, Oh Thou Great Jehovah.
